Rainbow Sangha - Brasil

We are a Buddhist group of traditional schools aimed specifically at the LGBTQIA+ public. Our desire is to be an LGBTQIA+ representation in Buddhism, and at the same time a representation of Buddhism among the LGBTQIA+ public. Formed by the integration of practitioners of traditions such as Shin, Zen, Jodo, Nichiren, Vajra and Theravada, the group aims to welcome everyone through a unified proposal on how Buddhism can contribute to answers to the most urgent social and spiritual demands of this community. (Based in Brazil)

House of Rainbow

House of Rainbow, founded by Reverend Jide Macaulay in 2006, began as a weekly gathering for LGBTIQ+ Christians in Lagos, Nigeria, and was soon labeled by the media as 'Nigeria's First Gay Church.' Despite facing intimidation and death threats, the organization highlighted the need for support for LGBTIQ+ people of faith. Jide relocated to the UK to expand House of Rainbow into a global organization, now based in London, supporting sister organizations in 22 countries across Africa and the Caribbean. Today, House of Rainbow is a leading advocate for LGBTIQ+ people of faith, fostering dialogue between them and religious leaders to break down barriers and build understanding.

Global Interfaith Network

The criminalization of LGBTI identities, justified by religious and cultural claims, leads to persecution, especially in the Global South. The 2012 ILGA World Conference focused on the experiences of LGBTI people of faith from the Global South, leading to the creation of the Global Interfaith Network (GIN). GIN provides a safe space to share best practices, develop resources, and strategize for decriminalization. It aims to be relevant to all faiths and contexts. The 2014 Johannesburg conference continued this mission, maintaining an accessible online community to support Global South LGBTI people of faith.
