It Gets Better: Coming Out, Overcoming Bullying and Creating a Life Worth Living by Dan Savage and Terry Miller

$0.00

The "It Gets Better Project" was created by Dan Savage and his husband Terry Miller as a response to an increase in LGBTQ youth suicides. This book is a collection of reassuring personal stories of LGBTQ folxs and their allies. Many stories include experiences of people coming out to their religious families and their memories of growing up in conservative communities of various faiths. The ultimate mesage of the book is a positive affirmation that things get better and that no matter how lonely and lost someone is, there are communities and support networks out there ready to help. Though Dan Savage has had a history of being insensitive to trans people, this book is a affirming resource for LGBTQ2s+ people nonetheless.

RFF is an international human rights organization situated on the traditional territory first named Tkarónto, the Mohawk word for “the place in the water where the trees are standing.” This land is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

We acknowledge that Tkaronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
