Holy Troublemakers and Unconventional Saints by Daneen Akers

$0.00

Holy Troublemakers & Unconventional Saints is an illustrated children's book about people of diverse faiths working for more love and justice in their corners of the world, even when that means rocking the religious boat. With original portraits from more than two dozen artists and engaging profiles of people from different faiths and different eras, these are stories that inspire, educate, challenge, and encourage. The book emphasizes the stories of women, LGBTQ people, people of color, Indigenous people, and others who are often written out of religious narratives. Written for middle grade age children ages 8 and up, the rich illustrations of various artistic styles and accessible language make the book suitable for all ages.

Rainbow Faith and Freedom is an international human rights organization situated on the traditional territory first named Tkarónto, the Mohawk word for “the place in the water where the trees are standing.” This land is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We acknowledge that Tkaronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
